North Blyth 1: 43063 rests at North Blyth MPD. The time is just after dawn on a June morning, and we had spent the night travelling to Lynmouth on the footplate and back in the van with the loaded coals. All thanks to driver Cyril Lamb (not sure of the name). We spent three Friday nights at Blyth at that time, turning engines by hand, and being thrown out by drunken night staff in turn, but we always got back in! We had to, as we always went over on the last ferry!! June 1966
